An outstanding Victorian bur walnut card table, the card table is by far an exceptional example of the levels achieved by the Victorian craftsman….Victorian carving at it best, the attention to detail is consistent throughout and the craftsman must be acknowledged for the pleasure of such a wonderful piece, the ornate well sectioned out swept supports displaying carvings of acanthus this detail continues to the knees, rising above pierced applied carvings embrace the central turned support, the base is enhanced by the superb serpentine bur walnut top with thumb moulding, the top rotates to reveal the typical well for storage, when opened the baize surface you see is free from any unsightly marks, it is just the castor’s though are correct for the period are a replacement, I have seen nether losses or physical damage throughout….yes it is a fine example.
