….discerning, yes this unique amazing Victorian cabinet would have surely been by commission and at considerable cost, as you move the cabinet, the resistance felt from the very pleasing weight reflecting the construction of the solid period mahogany throughout, such rare examples as this are evidence of the standards that could be achieved by the craftsman from the period, the craftsman must be acknowledge for the attention to detail throughout, a few of the drawers and mainly to the top have applied paper tags, I take to be indicating the collection of birds eggs, the cabinet can boast a total of 30 graduated dovetailed drawers increasing in depth from one and half inches to five inches, each displaying graduated recessed brass pull handles, not only is each drawer numbered to the front, but to the sides all drawers are struck with numbers and row A / B, each drawer is with removable sectional compartments, optionally leaving the drawer with an open space, two fine solid mahogany doors with lock and key enclose the drawers, the doors enhanced by the crafted applied carvings.
The overall dimensions are 57 inches in height, 46 . 5 inches in width and 24 . 5 inches in depth.
